Part of Vinnatur, Organic Certified, biodynamic management, hilly terrain at about 300 meters above sea level, with rows following the level lines perpendicular to the slope of the hill, ideal system to get the best from the sun exposure.
To avoid the erosive action of the rains and promote the balance of the substances necessary to the soil we grow grass in the rows, we keep hedges and forests around and liaise with nature and wild animals to promote biodiversity as the place for us is the real base of an authentic wine.
We are Marco, Manuela and Tomaso. Our grandparents gave us the love for work and the discipline of the earth and an innovative spirit, which you can find in wines “outside the box”, because natural should also be good, grown on vines in the vineyard first and then followed in the cellar.
Forti del Vento: Strength and lightness. Matter and spirit. Everything is generated by contrast.
So our name, inspired by the wonderful castles of Alto Monferrato Ovadese and the winds that blow on our hills, but above all by the firmness of our roots and the passion that guides us in our personal return to the future.
We believe in ancient methods of cultivation, in maintaining the fertility of the soil through natural methods such as green manure: we preserve the woods and hedges and we consider the insects our allies for the maintenance of the wealth deriving from biodiversity.
Vinnatur, biodynamic agriculture for wines to remember.
In our wines you find our way of being and thinking. We like to be vine growers but also drink good wine. Our goal is to bring the taster back to everything that is behind the wine: work, respect for the place, and the vine it comes from.
Sometimes you get lost in a glass of water. It is important for us to find ourselves in a glass of wine.
We are in the Alto Monferrato, in an area north of Liguria that forms an imaginary triangle with at the top the towns Ovada, Rocca Grimalda and Castelletto d'Orba, crossed by the A 26, which comes from Genoa and divides into two the Piedmont up to the Alps.
Seven hectares planted on hilly terrain at about 300 meters above sea level following the level lines perpendicular to the slope of the hill, ideal system to make the most of the exposure. The grass in the rows is our ally, a natural method to combat the erosive action of the rains, promote the balance of the substances necessary to the soil, increase insects and biodiversity. We have also worked hard to restore and recover old Dolcetto vineyards, some of them with rows arranged on light terracing on which the vines grow. The other grapes grown are Barbera, Cortese, Chardonnay, Albarossa, Nebbiolo di Dronero, a different variety from Nebbiolo taken in 2001 using microsatellite markers from the team of Dr. Schneider and Barbera made by prof. Giovanni Dalmasso in 1938, and the Nibiö, a historical variety of Dolcetto grown in Alessandria province which risked disappearing due to its low productivity.
